Brochure and Company Profile Design
Ellington & Vale designs brochures, company profiles and product catalogues for Indian businesses — the documents that get forwarded, printed, carried into meetings and read when nobody from your company is there to explain anything.
The company profile is India's most under-designed business document
In Indian B2B, the company profile does an enormous amount of work. It goes out with tenders. It gets attached to first emails. It is handed across the table at exhibitions and left behind after meetings. For a great many businesses it is the single most-circulated thing the company produces.
And it is usually a slide deck exported to PDF, assembled by whoever had time, running to forty pages because nobody could decide what to remove.
A buyer forms a judgement from it in about the time it takes to scroll two pages. That judgement is not about the words — it is about whether this looks like a company that does careful work. Which makes the profile a genuinely high-leverage document and one almost nobody treats as such.
What a good profile actually does
It answers, in order: what you do, who you do it for, why you rather than the alternative, what you've done, and how to reach you. Most profiles bury the second and third under company history and a founder's message.
The discipline is subtraction. A forty-page profile that nobody finishes is worth less than a twelve-page one that gets read. Deciding what comes out is the hard part and it is where the work actually is — which is a positioning problem before it's a design one, and the reason this connects to the brand work rather than sitting apart from it.
Product catalogues
A different problem: many items, technical information, and a reader who needs to find one thing quickly rather than read from the front.
Catalogue design is largely information design — how the range is organised, how a product is found, how specifications are presented so they can be compared, and how the system holds when forty new SKUs are added next year without anyone redesigning it. For industrial and manufacturing businesses the catalogue is frequently the primary sales tool, and it lives alongside the positioning work described on our B2B marketing page.
Print and digital, which are not the same document
Most brochures are now read on a screen and printed occasionally, and designing one file for both compromises both.
Print needs bleed, crop marks, CMYK, a paper stock decision and a binding that opens flat if it's meant to be read on a desk. Digital needs a file size that emails, type that survives on a phone, and — if it's the version people actually receive — hyperlinks and navigation that a PDF can carry and a printed page cannot.
Producing both properly from one design system is straightforward. Producing one and hoping it serves both is where most of these documents fall down.
Sector-specific formats
Travel and hospitality brochures sell an experience and lean on imagery. Construction and real estate profiles lean on completed projects and capability. Manufacturing profiles lean on specification, certification and process. Each has a different reader with a different question, and the same template serves none of them well.
What determines the cost
No published rates. What drives it: page count and how much of the content already exists in usable form; whether photography and illustration are being produced or supplied; how many language versions are needed; and whether print production and vendor management are in scope or you're handling that.

FAQ
- What's the difference between a brochure and a company profile?
- In Indian usage they overlap heavily. A company profile introduces the company — capability, credentials, track record — and is usually B2B. A brochure more often sells a specific product, service or property. The design problem is similar; the reader's question is not.
- How many pages should a company profile be?
- Shorter than most. Twelve to twenty pages that get read beats forty that don't. The constraint is useful — it forces decisions about what actually matters, which is the real value of the exercise.
- Do you write the content or only design it?
- Both, and we'd argue for it. A profile designed around content written by someone else, before anyone decided what the document was for, tends to look considered and say nothing.
- Do you handle printing?
- We produce print-ready files built to the specific process and stock. Print production and vendor management can be in scope — tell us what you need.
- How much does company profile design cost in India?
- No published rates — see above.
