Exhibition Stall Design Company
Ellington & Vale is an exhibition stall design company working with Indian brands on trade show stands, exhibition booths and the fabrication drawings that get them built. A stand is a brand's most expensive square metre of the year, and it is usually designed by someone who has never seen the brand's guidelines.
Why most exhibition stands undo the brand that paid for them
Trade show stands in India are typically procured from a fabricator, priced by the square metre, and designed by whoever the fabricator has available. The result is structurally sound, delivered on time, and visually unrelated to everything else the company produces.
That matters more here than almost anywhere. A stand is one of the few places where a buyer encounters a brand physically, at scale, alongside every competitor simultaneously. A visitor walking an aisle is comparing eight suppliers in ninety seconds. The stand that looks like it belongs to a serious company gets the conversation.
The fix isn't more budget. It's designing the stand as brand work that happens to be three-dimensional, rather than as construction that happens to carry a logo.
Stand design and spatial planning
The design problem is a traffic problem before it's an aesthetic one. Where people enter, what stops them, where a conversation can happen without blocking the aisle, where product sits, where storage hides, and how the whole thing reads from twenty metres away when someone is deciding whether to walk over.
Open corner and island stands, shell scheme conversions, and double-decker builds each solve that differently, and the constraint is usually the venue's rules rather than imagination.
Fabrication drawings and buildability
Where exhibition projects fail late and expensively. A stand design that a fabricator cannot build to spec — or can only build by improvising on site the night before — has cost the client the entire investment, not just the design fee.
We produce drawings a fabricator can actually work from: dimensioned, with materials and finishes specified, graphics sized to the panels that will exist rather than the panels in the rendering. The fabricator is a collaborator on this work, not a downstream vendor, and involving them before the design is frozen prevents most of what goes wrong.
Graphics, messaging and the twenty-metre test
Most stand graphics are written to be read at two metres and are encountered at twenty. A visitor forms a judgement about whether you are relevant to them long before they are close enough to read a paragraph.
The hierarchy that works: what you do, legible across the hall. Who you're for, legible from the aisle. Detail, legible when someone has already stopped. Most stands compress all three into one size and communicate none of them.
Reuse across a show calendar
A brand exhibiting at four shows a year is either building four stands or building one system that reconfigures. The second is dramatically cheaper over two years and it requires deciding it upfront — modular elements, reusable structures, graphics that swap without rebuilding.
That's a systems decision, which is the same discipline behind everything else we do. More on the homepage.
What determines the cost
No published rates. What drives it: stand size and whether it's shell scheme or a custom build; single show or a reusable system across a calendar; whether fabrication is being managed or drawings handed to the client's own vendor; and how much new graphic and messaging work is needed versus adapting existing brand material.

FAQ
- What does an exhibition stall design company do?
- Designs the stand — layout, structure, graphics and messaging — and produces the drawings a fabricator builds from. Distinct from the fabricator, who constructs it.
- What's the difference between a stall designer and a fabricator?
- The fabricator builds. The designer decides what gets built and why — how the space works, what the stand says, and how it relates to the rest of the brand. Many Indian fabricators offer design as an included extra, which is why so many stands are structurally fine and visually disconnected from the company that commissioned them.
- Do you handle fabrication as well as design?
- Design and drawings are our scope. We work alongside your fabricator, or can recommend how to brief one — but we don't build.
- Can a stand be reused across multiple shows?
- Yes, and it should be if you exhibit more than twice a year — but only if it's designed as a modular system from the start. Retrofitting reusability onto a stand designed as a one-off rarely works.
- How much does exhibition stall design cost in India?
- No published rates — see above for what drives it.
