SEO Agency

Ellington & Vale does search engine optimisation for Indian brands — the technical work, the content, and the authority building that actually moves positions. We are measured on qualified traffic and what it produces, not on a screenshot of a ranking.

What actually decides whether a site ranks

Three things, and most SEO proposals over-weight the easiest one.

Technical foundation. Whether search engines can crawl, render and index the site; speed on the mid-range devices most Indian traffic arrives on; site structure; and the absence of the self-inflicted problems — thin pages, duplicated content, broken redirect chains — that quietly cap everything above them.

Content that matches what people actually search. Not volume of content. Pages built for a real query with real intent behind it, answering it better than what currently ranks.

Authority, which means referring domains. This is the one nobody wants to discuss because it is the hardest and the slowest, and it is usually the binding constraint. A site with excellent technical health and excellent content and very few referring domains will not outrank a mediocre site with many. Any agency that talks only about on-page work is describing the two-thirds of the job that is easier to invoice.

The uncomfortable arithmetic

We would rather say this before you engage than after.

SEO is slow, and the timeline is not within anyone's control. A new page on an established site can move in weeks. A new site competing in a contested category takes many months before anything meaningful happens, because authority accumulates slowly and there is no way to buy the wait down honestly.

Difficulty is not evenly distributed. Some terms are winnable by a well-built page. Others are held by directories or by sites with hundreds of referring domains, and no amount of content will displace them. Part of the work is telling you which is which — including when the honest answer is that a term you want is not realistically available and the budget belongs elsewhere.

Nobody can guarantee a position. An agency that guarantees a ranking is either targeting a term nobody searches, or describing something it cannot control.

Technical SEO

Crawl and index diagnosis, site architecture and internal linking, page speed and Core Web Vitals, structured data, and migration work — which is where the most damage gets done fastest.

A migration without a complete URL map loses the rankings the old site had. Every URL needs a single-hop 301 to its genuine equivalent, never a bulk redirect to the homepage, which search engines treat as content deleted rather than content moved.

Content and search intent

Not blog volume. Pages built against real queries, matched to the *format* those queries actually reward.

That last part gets missed constantly. Some searches want a service page. Some want a comparison or a listing. Some want a straight answer in two sentences. A service page competing against a search that wants a listing will not win, however well written — the format is wrong before the words are.

Local SEO

For businesses serving a defined area, this is often higher-return than national SEO and much faster. Google Business Profile completeness and accuracy, consistent name-address-phone details across directories, local landing pages that are genuinely about the place, and reviews — which function as both a ranking factor and the trust layer for a first-time customer.

Authority and links

The part that decides outcomes and the part with the most bad practice around it.

We do not buy links, and we do not use private blog networks. Both work briefly and both are explicit violations that put the whole domain at risk, not just the pages involved. An agency selling either is selling you a liability with a delay on it.

What does work is slower: directory and industry listings that are genuinely relevant, digital PR that earns coverage because there is something worth covering, and content other people cite because it is useful. It compounds and it does not get taken away.

Reporting

Rankings are an input, not a result. They fluctuate, they vary by location and device, and a screenshot of a good one proves very little.

What we report: qualified organic traffic, conversions and revenue where attribution allows, indexation and technical health, and referring domain growth — which is usually the leading indicator that predicts the rest.

What determines the cost

No published rates. What moves it: site size and technical condition at the start; how much content is being produced; whether authority building is in scope, which is the largest variable; and whether this is national, local or both.

Tell us your site and your market and we will give you an honest read — including when we think the timeline is longer than you want to hear.

FAQ

How long does SEO take to work?
Longer than most engagements are given. An established site can see movement in weeks; a newer site in a contested category takes many months. Anyone promising fast results on a competitive term is describing something they cannot control.
Can you guarantee first-page rankings?
No, and nobody honestly can. An agency that guarantees a position is either targeting terms nobody searches or making a claim it cannot back.
Do you buy backlinks?
No. Bought links and private blog networks are explicit violations that risk the entire domain. We build authority through relevant listings, earned coverage and content people cite — slower, and it does not get taken away.
How much does SEO cost in India?
No published rates. Site size, content volume and whether authority building is in scope are the main drivers.
Is local SEO different from regular SEO?
Yes, and usually faster and cheaper for a business serving a defined area. Different ranking factors — proximity, Google Business Profile completeness, review profile, citation consistency.
