Web Design Agency

Ellington & Vale is a web design agency building websites for Indian brands: sites designed as the place a company's positioning becomes legible to someone who hasn't spoken to anyone yet.

The website is the part of the sale that happens without you

For most businesses the site is not a brochure. It is where a buyer forms their judgement, alone, before making contact, and in categories with long or considered purchases, it is where the shortlist gets decided.

That reframes what a website is for. Not "presenting the company" but answering the specific questions a particular buyer has, in the order they have them, well enough that the next step is obvious.

It's the thinking behind our confidential work for an industrial measurement company, where the presenting problem was a website and the actual problem was that positioning, story and identity had never been made to agree with each other. The full case study is here.

Strategy before design

The order matters and it is the thing most often skipped.

Who is this site for, what do they need to believe, what is the one action that matters, and what does the evidence for it look like. Those questions are answered before a layout exists. A site designed before they're settled hardcodes whatever was assumed on the day it was designed, which is how companies end up rebuilding every two years without ever fixing the underlying problem.

Design and build

Design that carries the brand system rather than inventing a parallel one for the web. Build that is fast, works properly on the phones most Indian traffic actually arrives on, and is genuinely accessible rather than nominally so.

Speed is not a technical footnote here. It is a conversion and a search factor, and a site that performs well on a designer's laptop and poorly on a mid-range Android on a patchy connection is failing most of its audience.

What we build

Brand and corporate sites: the primary case above.

[Ecommerce websites](/ecommerce-website-design-agency) and [Shopify](/shopify-agency): storefronts and the marketing that runs on them, covered on our ecommerce marketing page.

[UI/UX design](/ui-ux-design-agency): product interfaces and design systems, research-led rather than preference-led.

[Mobile app marketing](/mobile-app-marketing-agency): for apps that are already built; we market them rather than develop them.

Landing pages and campaign sites: built to convert paid traffic, and covered as part of the PPC work rather than handed to a separate team that never sees the campaign data.

Handover, and not being trapped

A site you cannot update without calling the agency is not an asset, it is a dependency.

We build so that a client's own team can make ordinary changes, such as copy, images and new pages, without a developer, and we hand over the source, the accounts and the documentation. A studio that keeps a client dependent on it for a text change is describing its business model, not a technical constraint.

Where we work

Delhi NCR is home base, and the same team also builds for businesses further out, including [Mohali](/web-design-company-mohali).

What determines the cost

No published rates. What drives it: number of pages and templates; whether strategy and content are in scope or supplied; whether ecommerce or custom functionality is involved; whether photography and illustration are being produced; and whether the brand system already exists or is being built alongside.

Tell us what the site has to do and we'll give you an honest read.

FAQ

What does a web design agency do?
Plans, designs and builds websites, ideally starting with what the site is for and who it's for, before anything visual exists.
How long does a website take?
It scales with scope and it is almost never the design that sets the timeline. Content is. A site whose copy and images are ready moves quickly; one where those are being produced alongside takes as long as they take.
Will we be able to update the site ourselves?
Yes. Ordinary changes, such as copy, images and new pages, don't need a developer, and you get the source files and accounts.
Do you build ecommerce sites?
Yes, and we market them too: the two are covered together on our ecommerce marketing page.
Do you build mobile apps?
No. We market apps that already exist; we don't develop them.
How much does a website cost in India?
No published rates: see above.
