WhatsApp Marketing Agency

Ellington & Vale is a WhatsApp marketing agency working with Indian brands on WhatsApp Business API setup, opt-in audience building and campaign flows — built to stay inside Meta's policy rather than to test how far it bends.

Why WhatsApp is different from every other channel in India

WhatsApp reaches further into Indian daily life than any other messaging platform, and messages get read in a way email does not. That is the opportunity and it is also the trap.

A WhatsApp message arrives in the same place as a person's family conversations. The tolerance for intrusion is far lower than in an inbox, and the consequence of getting it wrong is not a low open rate — it is being blocked, reported, and eventually having your business account restricted.

Which makes WhatsApp the one channel where restraint is a performance strategy rather than a compliance concern.

Business API setup and the platform rules

The WhatsApp Business Platform runs on rules that are stricter and more actively enforced than most brands expect: template messages need approval before they can be sent, there are defined windows within which you may respond freely versus needing an approved template, and quality ratings on your number determine how much you're allowed to send at all.

Getting a number's quality rating damaged is slow and painful to reverse. The setup work — number provisioning, business verification, template architecture, sensible messaging tiers — is unglamorous and it protects the asset.

⚠️ Platform policy changes frequently. Anything specific we tell you about current limits is accurate to when we say it and should be confirmed against Meta's own documentation before it drives a decision.

Opt-in and list building, done properly

The single decision that determines whether WhatsApp works for a brand.

Bulk-blast tools that send to purchased or scraped lists are the fastest way to lose a WhatsApp number, and a substantial part of the "WhatsApp marketing" industry in India sells exactly that. We don't, and we would rather say so on this page than have the conversation later.

Genuine opt-in — collected at checkout, at point of sale, through a click-to-WhatsApp ad, in exchange for something the customer actually wants — builds slower and produces a list that performs and survives.

Campaign and lifecycle flows

Where WhatsApp genuinely outperforms: order confirmations and delivery updates, cart recovery, appointment reminders, re-engagement, and post-purchase support that turns into repeat purchase.

Notice that most of those are transactional or expected messages. That is not a coincidence — the messages customers welcome on WhatsApp are the ones they were already waiting for. Promotional broadcast works, but it works best as a small fraction of a stream that is mostly useful.

For D2C brands this sits alongside the retention work on our ecommerce marketing page.

Click-to-WhatsApp advertising

Meta and Google ads that open a WhatsApp conversation instead of a landing page — frequently the cheapest qualified lead source available to Indian businesses with a considered purchase, because starting a conversation is a far lower commitment than filling a form.

It is also where a lot of opt-in legitimately originates. Campaign mechanics are on our performance marketing page.

What determines the cost

No published rates. Two things to understand: our fee, and Meta's conversation charges, which are billed by Meta directly and vary by conversation category. Any agency quoting one all-in number without separating the two is hiding something.

Our side is driven by: whether API setup and verification are in scope; how many flows are being built; whether creative and copy production is included; and whether ongoing campaign management is part of it.

FAQ

What does a WhatsApp marketing agency do?
Sets up the WhatsApp Business Platform properly, builds opt-in audiences, and designs the message flows — transactional, lifecycle and promotional — that run on it.
Is bulk WhatsApp marketing legal in India?
Sending unsolicited commercial messages to non-opted-in numbers violates Meta's platform policy and gets numbers restricted or banned, regardless of what a bulk-sending tool claims. It also sits uncomfortably with data protection expectations. We build opt-in lists only, and we'd rather lose the enquiry than the client's number.
How is WhatsApp marketing charged?
Two separate things: the agency fee, and Meta's own per-conversation charges, which vary by category and are billed by Meta. Treat any single blended number with suspicion.
How is this different from SMS marketing?
Higher engagement, richer formats, two-way conversation — and a much lower tolerance for intrusion. WhatsApp punishes what SMS merely ignores.
How much does WhatsApp marketing cost in India?
No published rates — see above.
